Years ago I created an illustration of myself as a child. I affectionately called her ‘little mars’ and over the years I’d put her in various situations to help illustrate my life. When foursquare needed a default user icon for girls and boys, I jumped at the chance to use Little Mars for this. I altered her appearance slightly and created a boy version as well. Little Mars (aka marsbot) also shows up in various other places of the site/app if you know where to look. I’ve slowly been creating characters for some of my foursquare co-workers in the style of Marsbot. Can you guess who is who? (hint: the girl is actually supposed to be me)

Variety Mag / Bravo Write Up
Truly humbled. This week has been an awesome one for me, and I’m really thankful for that. Our awesome team had a great write up on our Bravo partnership in Variety Mag (yes, hollywood’s variety!) and then today I was selected to be a part of The Hollywood Reporter’s “Digital Power 2010” Top 50 list. Very cool. So humbling to be amongst such smart, inspiring folks in the digital space.
They even gave a shout out to Foursquare in the intro!
“Despite the buzz about the iPad or Foursquare, audiences and revenues generated by programming on PCs or wireless devices is still a pittance compared with that on such established mediums as film and TV. But measured by the more intangible metric of influence, even the slightest innovation can portend big changes to come in the evolving media business.”
P.S. This goes without saying and they’re probably tired of hearing me say this but big thanks to Dens and Naveen for giving me this opportunity. I appreciate those guys a TON. And a definite thanks to the whole foursquare crew for continuing to produce such great product! You all are awesome

dream come true. since last summer, when i started at 4sq, i was determined to be the first to execute on the the often cliched “walk in front of starbucks and get a coupon” rhetoric. it has really happened. Big thanks to the Starbucks team, Eric, Mike and Jason (on the 4sq team) for helping to make this happen! More coming.
